Hey there I have a question about sharing AMDGPU-Pro drivers from the host with the distrobox.
From the docs it reads that GPU sharing is working by default on AMD and Intel. But I am uncertain if this only applies to the open source drivers rather then the closed source driver. Which is totally fine given the fact that most ppl will not use the closed source AMD drivers on Linux anyway.
However in case someone does, is there a similar way in sharing the proprietary AMDGPU-Pro drivers with the distrobox as like with the proprietary nvidia driver. eg.
--nvidia
but something like--amd-pro
?Background is: I once made a tutorial video about how to install DaVinci Resolve on Linux and showed how to setup a Rocky Linux 8 distrobox, install Resolve and than run it. However multiple ppl had trouble follow the tutorial steps and it turned out they tried it on AMD hardware. I then found out that Resolve in fact does support AMD on Linux but only using AMDGPU-Pro not the open source driver stack.
I then spun up my Steam Deck as it is the only AMD GPU system I own and tested it myself and ran into some issues.
So here am I. Is this even possible or is without an additional distrobox feature all hope lost?
Kind regards,
V.
