Page Speed

I opened this issue to record any page speed concerns. Feel free to post a ballpark estimate of load time (ie- "over 10 secs") with info on your browser and device ("running chrome on my iPhone with 3G signal).

Here's an example of a great concern:

The Contact page took about 20 seconds to load, running Safari on my iPad with strong wifi.

The average page load time is currently 3.27 seconds over LTE mobile bandwidth. That speed is pretty much within Google's suggested 1-3 second speed window (read more here.

The more data we gather, the better we can optimize certain pages and media to load faster.

I've continued to use the site today and it just takes painfully long for anything to load on the site. I just did a count for myself loading the homepage on my phone and it was about 15 seconds. Clicking the hamburger button on the homepage, it doesn't respond at all for at least 5 seconds and then it does something, but by that point you've pushed it a couple more times and it looks confused. When you click any button, it looks like like it's loading for about 5 seconds, then doesn't do anything for another 5 seconds, then the page appears, loading piece by piece. Right now, it's a significantly worse experience than the previous website. I'm not sure what's going on, but I'd encourage you to actually use it on your phone because I don't think the tests are accurately reflecting my experience of the site.

@raphaelgang - I squashed the mobile nav bug and made a bunch of optimizations (like image scaling and a new caching plugin).

I also saw slowness and room to optimize with mobile loading on devices pre- iPhone 6s. We'll get the fix up ASAP.
