Updates from last week ✔

• Z2JH release work
• TLJH and related projects maintenance
• JMTE misc maintenance work with the hub
• JMTE specific dask and dask-gateway optimizations together with Shane Griggsby
  • Exposing high performance k8s node-local SSD storage
    Note that /tmp in a user pod will have ~130 MB/s write speed, while a mounted NFS server storage may have like ~100MB/s write speed. We hope to gain multiple times faster write speed when using a node-locally mounted SSD disk that the user pods on the node can use.

• https://staging.us-central1-b.gcp.pangeo.io now points at the 2i2c-managed staging hub! (This is technically an update from today 😂 )
• I wrote a helper script to clean up some of our duplicated Auth0 apps that remain from a (now fixed) bug Cleanup unused applications in auth0 infrastructure#519
• I also implemented a YAML lint check in our repo Test YAML validity for each PR infrastructure#165

Challenges I faced and things I'd like assistance with 🙏

• I'd like to think about releasing a blog post when we go live with the Pangeo prod hub Write blog post for launch of Pangeo on 2i2c #272
• I would also like to resolve Configure a single general purpose and more permissive network policy infrastructure#741 before going live with Pangeo prod

• Next Monday (1st Nov) I will be taking a day off

• I think we are nearly ready to send out alpha service proposal doc to others, but would love some final feedback for a couple questions in Alpha service offering description and rationale #262

• I am evaluating and understanding - notes at https://hackmd.io/_hQdrilJQFCGExUqYgwY3Q?both, context at https://github.com/2i2c-org/meta/issues/252. I made a PR as well (Include flask templates in built package conda-incubator/conda-store#196) and am looking forward to seeing how it goes
• I made progress on Migrate to bootstrap 5 jupyterhub/binderhub#1395 - I think it's visually done, but there seem to be a bug with the progress bars I need to fix
• Helped @consideRatio with TLJH cleanup a little bit

• Made progress with Traefik v2 file provider jupyterhub/traefik-proxy#135

Challenges I faced and things I'd like assistance with 🙏

• I would love some extra 👀 on Traefik v2 file provider jupyterhub/traefik-proxy#135. It doesn't have to be now, as there's still some cleaning that needs to be done, but I'd be extremely happy if before that's in a merging state, at least one other person gives a 👍

  • Grenoble was down
    • [Incident] Grenoble hub seems to be down [SOLVED] infrastructure#766
  • Get the PaleoHack hub ready for the upcoming event
    • New Hub: PaleoHack 2 infrastructure#736
• Debugged some grafana PVC helm? error preventing the latest auth improvements from Georgiana to be deployed into the 2i2c cluster
• Reviewed alpha service document and provided feedback about a per-user associated cost for large hubs

• Yesterday, I made another iteration on AWS docs: Docs about AWS hubs and CI/CD automation infrastructure#717. Feedback is welcome. I want to merge that one ASAP 😉 .
