• I got sucked into another round of budgeting and paperwork for the Columbia sub-award, I think we are nearing the finish line there https://github.com/2i2c-org/meta/issues/235
• I spent a bunch of time re-working some of our pilot.2i2c.org information to provide more high-level information about the service as well, in preparation for an alpha level launch of the service. In particular see Rework the documentation around our cloud services docs#97
• I wrote out a bunch of strategy documents for the Executable Books project to suggest next steps to build a sustainable community. Draft here: https://hackmd.io/5Q4D0eJ7SOGT6Lh_dkiyCw

• I'd love thoughts from folks on the pilot.2i2c.org revamp. I'm hoping we can use this as the thing we point people to when they ask "what does it mean to use a 2i2c hub?". PR here: Rework the documentation around our cloud services docs#97
• @GeorgianaElena and I have been struggling to figure out how to install the right geospatial libraries for the Toronto hub, anybody have ideas? Update R geoscience packages utoronto-2i2c/jupyterhub-deploy#101

Challenges I faced and things I'd like assistance with 🙏

• I'm afraid of the complexity related to making /lab the default in z2jh and/or making the launched user server be configured via environment variables instead of command-line flags.

  I currently don't clearly overview what needs to be done and so, any help about this greatly appreciated but I can't at the moment provide a clear ask for help because I'm a bit lost myself.

Updates from last week ✔

• Upgrade js dependencies of binderhub upstream#48 is mostly done. A good chunk of Modernize binderhub JS upstream#49 is also done. This paves the way for easier longer term maintenance on binderhub, and makes it easier for newer contributors to chip in.
• Lots of progress made on Split docker-image-cleaner to its own repository from binderhub upstream#47 with help from @consideRatio.
• Reviewed and merged changes from @manics to get Support running without k8s for BinderHub upstream#19 going. Still a lot of work to do, but the basics work!

• I would love for more eyes and actions on Team training for Kubernetes #207!

• I'm going to continue to try and not be available during the evenings, and work more asynchronously as much as possible.

  • Debugged weird issue trying to install curl
    • Replace curl with wget to download kops infrastructure#686
    • Do not try to override the existing kops directory infrastructure#687
  • Opened Enable openscapes (and re-enable farallon) deployment by the CI infrastructure#691
• Revisited strategy documents for the Executable Books wriiten by @choldgraf
• I also took a brief look at this one: MIME type error for rise.css damianavila/RISE#597

• Working on 691, I found some issues and opened new tickets for those, can you take a look a provide feedback?
  • Redirecting the test output (to prevent the CI from leaking secrets) is preventing us to get the actual error locally infrastructure#694
  • Move openscapes to basehub infrastructure#695

• I am taking my second vaccine dose today! As I said in Slack not sure how my body will respond so I might be less available than usual.

Adding stuff I want to work on this week given that I might miss the sprint meeting

• Get Enable openscapes (and re-enable farallon) deployment by the CI infrastructure#691 merged
• Implement: Add documentation about best-practices in deploying hubs on AWS infrastructure#696 (that should finally close Automate hub deployments on AWS infrastructure#647)
• Implement: Redirecting the test output (to prevent the CI from leaking secrets) is preventing us to get the actual error locally infrastructure#694
• Discuss: Move openscapes to basehub infrastructure#695
• Help Ryan on MIME type error for rise.css damianavila/RISE#597
